Our Dj's

PABLO INZA is considered to be one of present day’s tango scene’s most influential figures and has won respect world wide for his innovative and creative style.  For 9 years, Pablo Inza was the resident DJ at the mythical Practica X in Buenos Aires.

Pablo is the kind of a DJ who stays at his desk, tuning the sound according to the energy of the dancers, creating atmospheres and contrasts. As a big music lover himself, he wants the dancers to have a good time on the dancing floor, aspiring to inspire them as "a musician" and thereby being also ready to adapt his music choices to the dance floor needs. Pablo prefers the classics, but at the same time, also dares to surprise from time to time by playing a couple of tunes that most people might hear for the first time. Even cortinas are important for Pablo as a mood factor during the milonga.

Pablo dj’d our opener in 2016, we are super happy to welcome him back. He’ll dj again at our Wednesday Welcome Milonga this year.

Pame Bravo began tango dancing in 2014. Her love for tango music inspired her to become a DJ  DJ. She quickly became one of the most popular DJ's in her city of Cordoba, Argentina. The acclaimed Dj Mario Orlando, her mentor of tango music taught her the basics and the art of building beautiful milongas. Last year, she moved to Buenos Aires where she became DJ at Club Fulgor one of the most well known clubs of the Tango Capital.

Pame is one of the Montreal scene’s favourite DJ. She dj’s quite regularly at the Saturday TSC milonga, the largest milonga in the city. This is her second Bailongo.

Pame will Dj our opener on Thursday, May 16th

Nick Jones has been dancing & studying dance since 1996.  He began teaching tango in 1998 but emphasizes that he continues to be a student. He was one of the first North American tango dancers to have been invited to teach and perform at a festival in Buenos Aires (Pulpo's Tango Week).  He has taught and performed at many tango festivals and workshops across N. & S. America, Europe, Australia & China.

In 2008 he formed the Orquesta Tipica NaturalTango, in which plays the bandoneon.  Playing in and leading the Orquesta has given him a unique look into the inner working of tango music, and has greatly influenced his dancing, teaching, performing and dj’ing.

Nick will DJ our Friday afternoon milonga.

After having lived in Seattle, Portland, San Diego, and Phoenix, AZ, Jay is now based in Annapolis, Maryland where he teaches weekly classes. A well known and greatly appreciated tango teacher Jay often travels to give workshops in other U.S cities.

A much sought-after DJ, Jay possesses an incredibly astute awareness of a dance floor’s changing energies, and is known to keep a good party going by hand-picking choices of music to inspire dancers all night long.
A DJ at major tango festivals, Jay has DJ’d all over the United States, including Portland, Seattle, Maui, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque, Denver, Austin, Houston, Washington, DC, and New York City.

This is Jay’s fourth visit to Montreal.  (He dj'd at Bailongo in 2015, 2016 & 2018).
He’ll be djing on Friday, May 17th and will give a lecture entitled ‘‘Understanding musicality with Secrets from Shakespeare at 12:20 on the afternoon of Sunday, May 19th.

A much sought after Dj on the North American Tango Festival circuit, Avik is influenced primarily by the music and atmosphere of the milongas in Buenos Aires and is able to seamlessly weave an evening of music that really does justice to the tremendous range of emotions that tango expresses. In doing so, he hopes that the milonga will have something for everyone :) and that dancers will float home late, very late at night with music still playing in their heads.

Some of Avik’s notable tango adventures include two month-long immersions in Buenos Aires, DJing Monday night at Salon Canning, teaching tango to a Bollywood actress in Mumbai, India, and touring the U.S. with tango band Trio Folias.

No stranger to Montreal, Avik has been a featured dj at many of our most prestigious events: The Fling, Abrazo Marathon and Bailongo amongst others.  One of our dj's in 2016 and 2018, we are super happy that Avik will djing for us at this year's Bailongo!  Avik will be dj at our Gala-Milonga on Saturday, May 18th.

MILTON ‘‘El Gallo’’ Azevedo
Milton "El Gallo" is not your regular DJ. He is an entertainer who understands that every moment and every second of an event matters. His approach to DJing mirrors his approach to tango. He looks to deeply connect with the people in the room, carefully selecting songs, tandas, and even cortinas to create a mood that accentuates the experience for each dancer present. Be careful, his exuberant energy is infectious! Occasionally, you may even find him standing on chairs, orchestrating the experience and engaging with the crowd. :)

Milton hails from Boston-ish (MA, USA). He DJs regularly all across the northeast United States and Canada.
One of the Montreal crowd’s favourite Dj’s, this will be Milton’s first time Djing at Bailongo, although he’s come to the fest to hang out and dance almost every year!

Milton will dj at our Gala-Milonga on Sunday, May 19th.

An up and coming dj on the Montreal tango scene, Cenker dj'd for many years in Europe before moving to Canada.
One of the dj's at Tango Social Club, Cenker really knows how to balance and pace his tandas so as to keep everyone on their feet all night long. He has quickly become a favourite Dj amongst the Montreal regulars.

We are super thrilled that Cenker will Dj again this year at our closing milonga on Monday afternoon (May 20th) at 7755 boul. St-Laurent.

Rahul moved to Montreal two years ago, and has quickly become one of our most popular Dj's.
He draws his inspiration from European trends, is not afraid to take a few risks :) and is known for keeping everyone dancing until super late.

The TSC house DJ on Monday nights (and often on Saturdays too), he'll be djing our Monday, closing after party.
